The Legion has parted ways with our previous Chef, Javier, as of April 27th. We thank him for his time and attention in getting our food service quality to a higher standard… Mike McBride, previously the bar manager, has stepped up to run both the kitchen and the bar. He has done a great job already planning out specials. Expect to see an updated menu rolling out in the coming weeks.

The ALA Unit 47 provided a $10.5k check to the American Legion building fund to support the history room expansion for the museum.

The State of Maryland approved our $150k capital grant and an additional $250k for the historic building (the Living War Memorial) rehab in the 2026 General Session. These funds will be used to refresh our HVAC systems, restore the building foundation, and install solar panels on the main hall; all of which will reduce our monthly energy expenses.

Kudos:
-
Post Manager Jon Parsons has been putting in a lot of effort to ensure our operations run smoothly; especially the increase in rentals.
-
Our post officers: Rosa Lee Thompson, Finance Officer, and Justina Ireland, Adjutant continue to go above and beyond. All of our Post reporting requirements and metrics are on target and we’re in a much better position than we were at this point last year!
-
Our Facilities Committee and volunteers: Jeremy Gaston, Will Kwan, Jeff Mack, Steve Stottlemyer, Chuck Frary, Cynthia Wong, and Devon Lawrence. These folks have shown up daily and taken care of removing junk, getting the history room rehab done, preventative maintenance on all our equipment and the list goes on!
-
The SAL has supported 3 major programs directly at the Post this past month, as well as helping volunteer with myriad other tasks. The SAL and ALA certainly are the lifeblood in supporting our organization. Thank you!
